Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

My name is Vicki Sampieri and I am a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. I qualified in July 2012, having trained with some of the UK's leading practitioners. My first experience with craniosacral therapy was over 20 years ago. Hooked after my first treatment, CST helped me sustain my health and well-being in a hectic lifestyle as a teacher, Head of Department and Housemistress in a state-run boarding school. It is an integral, central part of my life and my family's.

About CST and what its use

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle yet profound therapeutic approach appropriate for all ages, from the very young to older people suffering from fragile or acutely painful conditions.

This therapy was found more than a century ago by Dr William Sutherland, an Osteopath. He had observed the body's ability to heal itself, calling this life force the 'Breath of Life'. The sensitive hands of the therapist can work with the body's natural self-healing and free the body of inertia and congestion.

People come for Craniosacral Therapy as part of their recovery from trauma, injury, or stress or to support their general well-being, health, sleep and reconnecting with the body's ability to heal.

People choose Craniosacral therapy to help with shock and trauma, physical and emotional, headaches, migraines, insomnia, back and neck pain, stress and anxiety, post-dental treatment, chronic fatigue, ME, Fibromyalgia, long Covid, and post-surgery.

Often Mothers with newborns are advised to visit a craniosacral therapist following a difficult or traumatic birth. This therapy can help with colic, sucking issues and irritability. In addition, craniosacral therapy is a beautiful and gentle therapy that can support a mother throughout her pregnancy and prepare her for labour.

Why did you choose your profession?

I have always valued bodywork for supporting my health and well-being and knew I wanted to be a Body Worker. I initially trained as a massage therapist, but I was overwhelmed by the profound personal effect of CST. I remember feeling as though a reset button had been pressed. It supported me throughout my pregnancies, transformed my birthing experiences and has been the greatest gift to my children.

What do you enjoy the most about your work?

I love witnessing the body's ability to unravel inertia and tension, restoring the body's original matrix of health and how it calms the central nervous system. We seldom listen to our bodies, and it is a pleasure to "listen" to the patterns that can be held within the body's tissues and provide space for them to resolve. Sometimes, patterns, especially older ones, can take time to unravel, but it is a rewarding journey, and when the body optimises available health, there can often be stillness. It is a dynamic stillness, full of vitality, wrapped in a deep sense of relaxation. I firmly believe in the body's intelligence and ability to heal. Helping to unlock "trauma" and promote health in the body is immensely rewarding.

What are your specialisms in this field?

Even those who consider themselves in "good health" can benefit from CST. My training and continued professional development enable me to treat clients of any age in any state of health, from newborns to the elderly. I have recently received a more significant number of younger referrals dealing with mental health concerns, and this has encouraged me to take a closer look at how I can best support such clients.

What conditions do I most enjoy treating?

It is immensely rewarding when a client becomes pain-free or can finally access a deep sense of relaxation. What I find the most rewarding is when a client recognises the benefit of this treatment for maintaining good health and makes it a priority for their self-care, health and well-being.

Testimonials

It isn't easy to put into words how excellent the benefits of Vicki's Craniosacral therapy have been for my back and general health and well-being.

Due to childbirth, I have discomfort in my lower back and pelvis. Vicki's therapy has eased this discomfort, making things much more manageable. She is incredibly in tune with what is happening inside the body, and one feels a huge sense of warmth and healing. I always feel so relaxed, pain-free and realigned after my sessions with Vicki and would highly recommend her therapy. Alex Welsh.
