A little about me and how I got into sports therapy

Having spent all my childhood dancing, ballet mainly, I was plagued with injuries to my feet. So, having had regular sports and physiotherapy, I decided to retire the dancing idea and retrain in sports therapy.

While studying at The University of Chichester, I was fortunate to be offered a job while on placement at Brighton & Hove Albion FC. I continued working there after graduating. In 2012 I bit the bullet left the football club and joined The Heeler Centre Team.

However I wasn’t ready to completely give up on working in team sports, so I joined Haywards Heath Rugby FC as clinical lead for 3 seasons. In 2017 I was prepared to stop standing on the sidelines and now treat at The Heeler Centre 6 days a week.

About sports therapy

Sports therapy is a speciality in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Sports therapists use sports massage, joint mobilisations and exercise rehabilitation.

Some questions answered!

How long have you worked at The Heeler Centre and what is most enjoyable?

I’ve been at the HC since 2012 and love the team of people I work with. They are all fantastic in their specialities. I enjoy that we can bounce treatment ideas off of each other, which is a hidden benefit for our clients. And we are fortunate that we have so many lovely patients, so I enjoy that every hour is different.

Why did you choose sports therapy?

It was the only other thing that held interest for me. Having had lots of physiotherapy and sports massage while I was dancing, I always had an interest in learning about the human body. So when I stopped dancing, it seemed the natural thing to do.
