A little about Julie

I qualified as a Homeopath in 1998, following a three-year full-time training course at The London College of Classical Homeopathy (LCCH). Two years later I graduated from the Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies and have been in practice for the last 20 years.

I also work at Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy in Tunbridge Wells one day per week, preparing remedies and advising the public about homeopathic treatment for a wide range of acute ailments.

Prior to discovering homeopathy, I obtained a degree in Chinese language and culture at the University of London, and spent a total of five years studying and working in Beijing.

It was in China that I first developed an interest in the holistic approach to healthcare, and on my return to the UK I was drawn to study homeopathy when it had a dramatic impact on my own health. I was in my late twenties, searching for a new and more meaningful career than the unfulfilling work in corporate environments that I had known up to that point when I injured my Achilles tendon badly and was virtually unable to walk for a short time. It was a major setback, as hiking was my big passion. I had physiotherapy which helped, but my healing was slow.

That was when I went to see a homeopath. I found the consultation itself very therapeutic, even before taking any remedies. The homeopath recommended a book with an interesting title, which gave me some fresh insights. It was called  “The Healing Power of Illness” by Thorwald Dethlefsen.

All of this set me thinking about why the injury had happened and challenged my ideas about the nature of illness. I realised that none of it was a coincidence -- it had happened for a reason. The enforced rest made me stop and see that I was not the victim of a random event. I had actually brought about my own symptoms by the inner conflict of remaining in a job that was making me unhappy. Within six months, my tendon had healed, I had made the decision to resign from my job and had enrolled to study homeopathy. With hindsight, I see the injury as a blessing in disguise.

My interests are walking, yoga, meditation and nutrition.

What do I enjoy most about my profession?

I enjoy working with people to help them explore possible triggers for their symptoms. My aim is to help every client achieve improved quality of life, by understanding each individual's unique experience of his or her condition, prescribing appropriate homeopathic remedies, and suggesting dietary or lifestyle changes that may enhance wellbeing.

What are my specialisms?

Anyone who would like to strengthen their immune system and improve their health can visit a homeopath. People often present with chronic health conditions, such as:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Digestive disorders
  • Skin problems
  • Fatigue
  • Hay fever and asthma
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Stress

Homeopathy is safe for everyone, including the elderly, babies and young children, breastfeeding mothers, and during pregnancy. It can be used alongside conventional medical treatment, but always whilst maintaining contact with the doctor.

What conditions do I most enjoy treating?

The homeopathic case-taking process is exactly the same, whether a person is seeking help for a physical condition, or for a mental or emotional symptom such as stress, anxiety or depression. Therefore I do not have a preferred condition, as I work holistically and look at the whole person, with a focus on finding the correct remedy for each individual, rather than for each specific symptom.
