The Heeler Centre has been keeping Sussex pain-free and feeling healthier and happier since 1997. Here’s our story.

The Story behind The Heeler Centre Clinic

osteopath

The Heeler Centre Clinic was founded by Paul Heeler in 1997. For many years before this, Paul worked as an osteopath in the local area. It is through the long-standing reputation of The Heeler Centre that we see our clinic as a family clinic. Someone may visit us for the first time to "fix" their injury, but they return again and again, and we often end up seeing other members of their family through the years  (and their friends and families).

In recent years, The Heeler Centre has grown to become a centre of excellence for osteopathy, chiropractic and physiotherapy. It has broadly extended its range of treatments and therapies available to customers, to cover all aspects of health and wellbeing.

In 2016, The Heeler Centre was recognised as 'One To Watch' at the Sussex Business Awards, with judges recognising the clinic's approach to excellence and customer care.

Here’s what we believe

As a clinic team, it’s important we share the same values and our approach to treating you is consistent. Here’s why we’re different.

We understand how it feels when you’re in pain and want to get back to doing the things you know you should be doing.

Individually, we’ve experienced many of the injuries and problem points we now treat. For some of us, that’s why we started on this journey to help others through our various therapeutic approaches.

As a clinic, we’re not only about our own disciplines and therapies. We understand the importance of treating you as a whole person. That’s why we work as a team to treat both the symptoms and causes of your pain and improve performance or mobility.

Rarely does pain or injury affect one isolated area. We’ll work together to get you back on your feet and also make sure the causes behind your injury or pain are eliminated.

Here's how we do it:

  • We treat the whole body and work as a team to keep you mobile and active… and stay that way
  • We’re transparent and honest. If we don’t think a treatment or therapy will work for you, we’ll tell you and suggest a more appropriate course of action
  • We focus on treating both the symptoms and addressing the causes that result in pain to keep you healthier and happier for longer
  • We understand pain and injury doesnt solely manifest itself physically. There may be emotional effects from injury we also look to treat
  • We recognise injury and pain may arise from lifestyle choices and posture issues which often cannot be helped. The last thing we’ll do is suggest unrealistic lifestyle or work changes. We understand that if you’re desk-bound for 8 hours a day, there is little you can do to change that. That’s why our aim is to minimise impact and give you workable solutions you’ll actually follow
  • We believe sitting is one of the biggest problems for most people and we’re on a mission to help you get more active and stop this from inhibiting your life

As a team, we know you’re not concerned about the causes of pain. You just want to feel better. We’ll help you get there and, importantly, stay there.

As much as we love talking about it amongst ourselves, we recognise you’re probably not interested in the intricacies and science of mobility and wellbeing. You’re interested in how good health and posture makes you feel, what it allows you to do and how it allows you to enjoy life more.

Whatever your lifestyle, work or fitness goals, The Heeler Centre team is here for you.

Why Choose The Heeler Centre for your treatment?

There are many options available to you and many treatments all claiming to be the answer to your problem. It can be confusing navigating all the options, when all you really want to do is find someone who can make you better. Here’s four reasons why we think we’re your best bet.

Full team support - go to a chiropractor and they’ll treat you within their discipline, go to an osteopath and they’ll do the same… and the same for any other therapy. However, problems and injuries don’t affect only one part of the body. That’s why our TEAM approach uses a multi-disciplinary method to move you away from pain by treating the symptoms as well as move you towards good health by also tackling the causes.

We’ve been around a while - ok, while longevity is not really proof of quality, our reputation means most of our business comes from returning customers, some of whom have been coming back to us for as long as we’ve been around (p.s. that’s a long time).

You’ll get to know our names - and we get to know YOU - so many clinics work on the basis of getting you in quickly and getting you out. There’s little focus on the relationship. Yet, from our experience, the relationship our therapists build with you is the biggest asset in getting you back to good health. That’s why our model encourages strong relationships where you feel comfortable and looked after.

Flexible to your needs - you’re busy, you have a life. The last thing you need to do is drop everything to make it to an appointment at a super-early or late time inconvenient to you. That’s why our clinic is open longer hours than most and individual therapists offer early morning and late evening appointments to suit you. Call us to find out who can help you.

In the treatment room, your therapist will look at the information you’ve provided and ask you a number of questions to understand your situation and possible causes to advise on treatment.

If you have any questions at this point, please don’t hesitate to ask your therapist. Our aim is to make this as simple and comfortable for you as possible. Also, if for any reason you need a glass of water or need to visit the toilet, please let your therapist know and they’ll help you.

Depending on the treatment you’ve chosen, your therapist will walk you through what you need to do. If you need to get changed or remove clothing ready for treatment, your therapist will step outside the room to give you privacy. They will do the same once treatment has completed.

Now your treatment has finished, your therapist will speak to you about next steps and conclude your session.

If you haven’t yet made payment, go to the reception where they will be able to take payment for the session from you. We accept cash, debit or credit card. If you require an invoice, they can print this out for you.

If you need a follow-up session or further treatment, now is the time to book your next session with the receptionist. They will find a suitably convenient time for you and write this on an appointment card for you to keep.

All that remains is for us to say thank you and goodbye… and we’ll look forward to seeing you again soon!
