Annie Shannon | Counselling Therapist

I offer down-to-earth, compassionate counselling to adolescents and adults across a broad range of issues, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, stress, identity, neurodivergence, ill-health and menopause.

  • My counselling training was in humanistic creative counselling however I recognise that everyone is different, with different needs and as such do not work in a rigid or formulaic way.
  • I know from experience the value of a supportive, empowering therapeutic relationship and believe that with support we can all access the inner strength necessary to move forward, to grow, become more resilient, self-compassionate and find more meaning in our day to day lives.
  • My role is not to tell you what I think you should do, but to support you as you increase your self-awareness, identify and explore unhelpful self-beliefs and make sense of past or current events, relationships, your identity and so much more.
  • My counselling experience includes working across several charity and educational settings with a broad range of people, ages and issues. Alongside this I bring much in terms of my own lived experience, knowing first-hand the benefits an empowering and supportive therapeutic relationship can bring.
  • Finding a counsellor you’ll feel comfortable enough with to share and explore personal issues is difficult with just a photo and a few paragraphs to go on so with this in mind, I offer a free 15 minute zoom (or phone) chat in order that we can ‘meet’ and you might get a better idea of me and how I work. Should you wish to proceed with an initial face to face introductory session, I offer this at a reduced rate of £35.
  • I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), the largest professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK and as such am committed to adhering to their ethical standards and requirement for regular supervision.

Online and/or telephone appointments are available as well as face-to-face.
