Reflexology

Reflexology, dating back to Ancient Egypt, China and India, is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness by applying pressure to reflex points that are linked to other parts of the body found on the feet, hands, and head

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-intrusive, holistic form of complementary therapy, which is based on the theory that different points on the feet, hands and ears (known as reflex points) correlate to different parts of the body via the nervous system. Our therapists apply gentle pressure to these reflex points, and the ones which feel tense or congested are massaged to stimulate the corresponding areas. This allows for specific areas of the body to naturally restore balance while minimising pain, discomfort and illness.

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

Reflexology is a treatment open to anyone, from new-born babies to the elderly. The treatment will be tailored to you and your specific points of pain, both physical and non-physical. It’s been shown to be beneficial for those suffering from anxiety, with IBS or infertility issues.

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

In your first session, a brief medical history will be requested to work out the desired outcome from future treatments. This information will be kept confidential. After this, you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks, and the practitioner will begin applying pressure to all points on the feet, establishing which areas are more tense and placing focus on those specific points. During the treatment, you may feel some discomfort, but in general, the experience is relaxing.

Some people experience increased energy, enhanced sleep, relief from pain and increased mobility straight after a session, however, some people may experience tiredness, nausea, emotional releases and skin rashes. These are temporary reactions (usually only lasting 1-2 days after treatment) and are a part of the healing process, and something you shouldn’t be concerned about.

Reflexology can be used to help relieve the following:

Migraines
