Regular massage will help keep your body supple, balanced, revitalised and relaxed creating body awareness and promoting a healthy and active mind.
We offer a variety of massages and why not consider a combination of treatments, for example 45 minutes reflexology and 45 minutes massage. Please contact us if you are unsure which massage would best suit you.
Our therapists use a combination of stretching, pressure, deep, firm, gentle or still techniques and movements. Essential oils, base oils, creams, talc, hot stones, heat bags and ice packs may help to:

Sooth away knots, tightness and tension held in stiff, sore, aching muscles that may have caused discomfort, pain or stress, encouraging relaxation.

Stimulating weak and inactive muscles compensating for lack of exercise and inactivity resulting from illness and injury.

Relief to muscle strain, tension, fatigue and stiffness, improving range, motion and flexibility in joints, balance, posture and performance.

Increase the white blood cell count and endorphins. Stimulating blood circulation, movement of lymph fluids and detoxifying to help combat illness and speed recovery.

Reduce adhesions and fibrous tissue; assist in both preparation for recovery from competition; help to balance the autonomous nervous system and reduce risk of injury.

Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage uses a blend of base oils and natural essential oils that help to soften and nourish your skin. The essential oils penetrate through the skin and are absorbed into the blood stream where they work on relaxing, stimulating, relieving stress and tension stored in the muscles and the body. Deep, firm or gentle pressure can be used.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage integrates a combination of deep tissue strokes and a variety of techniques helping to improve your overall body function, prevent injury, speed recovery from training to assist in preparation for exercise and competition. The key to correct recovery from an injury consists of re-alignment, deep tissue massage and exercise rehabilitation. Our approach is focused on increasing the patient’s awareness of problems in order to be able to take on an active role in the minimisation of injuries and advice to prevent injury occurring. This massage treatment is not specific to sportsmen and sportswomen, but it will be of considerable benefit to anyone who leads an active life.
Hot Stone Massage
In a hot stone massage volcanic Basalt Stones are first heated and different sized stones are used to massage the body, working deeply and gently into the muscles. Some stones may be left in places around the body to further relax muscles. If you enjoy hot baths, you will love this treatment!
Indian Head Massage or Seated Massage
A powerful meditative massage working on the upper body that will release tension built- up in the shoulders, neck, head and face. If desired oils can be selected and worked into the hair during treatment to help soften and stimulate the scalp.
This treatment can be received in a normal upright chair or in our ergonomic chair that will completely support the body in an upright position. However the massage can also be carried out lying down if you prefer. Traditionally this massage is carried out fully clothed, however you can choose to be massaged directly onto the skin if you prefer.
Pregnancy Massage
The perfect relaxation for the pregnant Mum! At a time when your body is naturally changing, this has all the benefits of any one of our massages. You can receive the massage lying sideline supported with pillows or seated in our ergonomic chair that supports you and allows the therapist to work deeply if required into the shoulders.
Choose either essential oils or just a base oil.
Baby Massage
You will learn how to massage your baby gently and safely. Massaging your baby strengthens delicate body systems helping to ease problems such as colic and sleep patterns. Massage enhances the bonding process and puts you in touch with your baby and will also induce a feeling of calm and deep relaxation for you both. Your baby should ideally be aged between two and seven months and techniques can be taught in small groups or individually if preferred.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage can help to restore balance in the flow of energy throughout the body by stimulating energy lines. It has elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology and Yoga incorporated into the massage itself. Throughout the treatment you will feel a unique meditative atmosphere through stretching, breathing and pressure point techniques, a rewarding holistic therapy that can relax as well as energise. Thai Massage is being offered on Sundays, initially at a discounted rate.
Reflexology
The treatment starts with a warm relaxing footbath. Mirror imaging the body on the feet and working from foot-to-foot covering the whole area, imbalance and congestion can be located. By applying pressure to these points with fingers, thumbs and using techniques to help ease congestion, we assist the body to regain balance and harmony. A relaxing lower leg and foot massage completes the treatment.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word that means 'Universal Life energy' An ancient form of healing dating back thousands of years. Founded by Mikao Usui, it is a subtle, invisible energy. This energy circulates and flows through all living things and can be activated for healing to stimulate and support the body’s own natural healing ability. This treatment is received fully clothed.
Reiki Workshop
Join one of Reiki workshops where you will receive the relevant teachings for you to learn how to give this wonderful healing therapy. Anyone can learn Reiki. For more information please contact the Heeler Centre.
Our Massage Team
Julie Forbes FHT IIHHT MAR
Julie joined The Heeler Centre in 1999 after completing a two-year course in Swedish Massage and Reflexology. Julie continued her training in Aromatherapy Massage, Advanced Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Baby Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Holistic Massage, Seated Massage, Reiki and Reiki Master.
Charlotte Porter BSc (Hons)
Since graduating from the University of Kent with a BSC (Hons) degree in Sports Therapy, Health and Fitness, Charlotte has been working closely with both the sporting sector and the public sector. Charlotte has a keen interest in treating sports related injuries and rehabilitation. She also has the knowledge and experience in confidently treating non-sports related injuries holistically.
Tracy Cooper – Wren DIP HT ITEC RIPH EMBODY
Tracy was awarded a City and Guilds Diploma in Holistic Body Therapies in 2003. She studied at the Central Sussex College where her subjects included Massage, Aromatherapy, Remedial Massage, and Indian Head Massage and Reflexology. Tracy is a member of the Complimentary Therapists Association and was awarded her Anatomy and Physiology certificate by ITEC and her Hygiene certificate by the Royal Institute of Public Health.
Serena Lurring BSYA (Aroma)
Serena joined the team at The Heeler Centre in 2006 having qualified in Massage and Aromatherapy Massage. Continuing her training she now practises Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Pregnancy Massage.
Marja van Dommelen LSSM Dip
Marja van Dommelen qualified as a sports massage therapist at the London School of Sports Massage in 1991. The London School of Sports Massage has been instrumental in setting up the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage which is the professional body promoting the needs and aspirations of professional clinical therapists. The LSSM qualification is now the ISRM.
Paweena Promkot
Paweena is a therapist from the Ubon Ratchathani province of Thailand.
Paweena has trained at the Wat PoTemple in Bangkok and has been working as a massage therapist since 2003.
